For anyone interested in buying an affordable katana, I suggest that you do some homework first. There are several major manufacturers, mostly in China, making swords these days, but quality is going to vary.
I didnt buy this japanese sword for a display piece or so that i can learn iaido and pretend to be a samurai from feudal japan. No i bought this sword cause its well made, sharp as hell, and battle ready. It'll get the job done if i cant get to my gun on time,It sits right under my bed and gives me piece of mind. Its a great sword, full tang, quality brass fitting, heat temperd steel,AWESOME.
Not going to lie I expect this to be a complete s*** of a blade. Meaning like the cheap ones you get, were the blade rattles, you can remove everything with a single bolt, welded together on some little piece of metal, duller than a butter knife, rusty, easily bend, etc. This has been everything that but that, I was SHOCKED! Put together properly, not a single rattle sound, blade fit into the sheath, has a smooth unsheathing to it as well. Taking it apart was a little tough to how tightly the handle was fitted, which is good. The blade held up well against my friend's $1k Bungei sword, yes I compared a cheap Amazon sword to the glory of Bungei scream at me all you want.
I now see why so many good reviews. It has been repeatedly reviewed by others that use it and test it a bit, I won't. I will keep it in nice new condition and display due to its very well done quality and looks. Really like this one.
